New Home for Local Veteran
At the 2019 Honoring Our Heroes 5k, sponsored by Kroger, our Veterans Associate Resource Group along with Warrior Homesteads gifted a local veteran experiencing homelessness a tiny home.
While planning the 2019 Honoring Our Heroes 5K, the Veterans ARG wanted to do more, and reached out to Warrior Homesteads to work together to build and donate the home, outfitted with a full bed, bathroom and state-of-the-art appliances. The home also features a solar panel, is made from recycled materials and is built to green technology standards, further supporting our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact plan.
Inspired by this act of kindness, Kroger will be donating $500 to help stock their pantry and fridge with fresh ingredients to help them settle into their new home.
